that you share with your child/children…

cycling mum child Something Special!

I want to ask you… What is the one SPECIAL thing that connects you with your children/child?

Something that only you and your child would do together as a special connection, which you do not share with anyone else? Or something special that you say to each other that you don’t say to anyone else?

Why do I ask this?

You see, in our rushed everyday lives, we tend to notice things that are not going so well, such as your child did not finish his breakfast, your child’s school shoes are dirty, the hair is not combed…. But do we actually make time to really appreciate the little things that are special about your child, such as the special things that your child would do for you? That you and your child would share together?

Challenge yourself!

Have a think about it….

Right now, try and see how many things you can think of that is special about your child. What is one special thing that your child would do for you? … What is that special thing that connects you with your child?

and …

How long does it take you to think of all the wonderful positive things (that we sometimes seem to forget)?

So what is the one (or more) SPECIAL thing that only you and your child do together? What conncects you?

For example, my son loves his toast. I would normally wait for his toast to pop from the toaster and would “break off” one of the corners of his toast…, I know it is “not nice”… but ….

He would notice his “broken” off bread and know who the culprit was. So even after so many years, whenever he makes toast, he brings the toast to me and asks whether I want to “break” off one of the corners before he finishes them. And that’s when I would join him for his TV program and supper! And our night chats.

As for my daughter, when watching a movie or any TV program together, she would know exactly when and precisely the moment I am going to be emotional! She loves watching the Dog Whisperer, and I would normally join her in the afternoon. During the particular segment, she would know when to say “OK, no need to be emotional here…”, which is exactly when I am feeling very sorry for the dogs or someone…

How are you going?

Have you thought of any special connections yet?

Let’s be grateful for all the wonderful and special things that our children bring to our lives every day. Think about something special about your child every night, and I can assure you that you will have a very pleasant night filled with love!!
